Skinnies are short, focused reference sheets — one for each standard and era. Each one breaks down what the standard looks like at score levels 1.0 through 4.0, in plain language specific to that content.
Mr. Reese may assign skinnies as part of your studio plan. He uses them to make sure your studio demonstrates the full standard — not just the parts that come easily — and to confirm that crosswalk studios cover both the ELA and Social Studies sides completely. Think of your assigned skinnies as the specific expectations your studio is being held to.
You'll also pull skinnies on your own when filling out Part 5 (Proficiency Targets) of your Studio Contract, or whenever you hit a knowledge or skill gap mid-studio and need to know exactly what the standard is asking for.
