Standards Tracker

SDA Commons Wiki ยท South High School

Your Standards Tracker is the one document that shows everything you've done in SDA โ€” every studio, every standard, every score. You'll use it to plan your next studio, check your progress toward covering all the standards, and show Mr. Reese where your gaps are.

Get Your Tracker

Find your grade below. Click the link, then choose File โ†’ Make a Copy to save your own version to Google Drive. Rename it: Standards Tracker โ€” [Your Last Name, First Name].

Grade 9 โ€” ELA + World History Open Tracker โ€” Grade 9 (Make a Copy)

Grade 10 โ€” ELA + US History Open Tracker โ€” Grade 10 (Make a Copy)

Once you have your copy, move it to your personal folder in The Commons:

The Commons โ†’ [Grade 9 ELA / Grade 10 ELA] โ†’ [Your Last Name, First Name] โ†’ Standards Tracker

Your Four Tabs

Tab 1 โ€” Start Here

Instructions and your name/year field. Read it once at the beginning of the year.

Tab 2 โ€” Studio Log

One row per studio. Fill this in the day you get your score from Mr. Reese.

What to fill in Where to find it
Essential Question Your studio contract
Primary Standard Your studio contract
Era or Unit Your studio contract
Score Mr. Reese tells you
Crosswalk Standard + Score Your studio contract (if applicable)
Demo Mode Your studio contract
Expo Quarter Which quarter expo your studio was exhibited at
Date Done The day you received your score

Use the dropdown arrows for Score, Demo Mode, and Expo Quarter โ€” don't type, just click.

Tab 3 โ€” Standards Map

All your ELA and SS standards in one view. Shows how many times you've hit each one.

  • White / "โ—‹ Not yet" โ€” you haven't targeted this standard yet
  • Yellow / "โžค Hit once" โ€” you've hit it once; aim for a second
  • Green / "โœ“ Hit twice" โ€” done; keep this color by end of year

Fill in the Studio # and Score each time you target a standard. The Status column updates automatically. For SS standards, also fill in which Era or Unit your studio was in.

Goal: Hit each standard twice by end of year. That's 18 standards ร— 2 hits = 36 total.

The 18 standards:

ELA (12 standards) โ€” see the ELA Proficiency Scales for full definitions and score breakdowns.

Code What It Covers
C.1 Speaking and listening
C.6 Language conventions
R.2 Central idea and theme
R.4 Word choice and language
R.7 Multiple media and text types
R.8 Arguments and evidence
R.9 Comparing and synthesizing texts
W.3 Narrative writing
W.4 Writing for task and audience
W.6 Producing and publishing
L.1 Grammar and mechanics
IR.1โ€“5 Research Bundle โ€” five sequential stages: develop a question, gather from multiple sources, synthesize, evaluate credibility (SIFT), cite in MLA. Active in every studio. See the Research Bundle Skinny.

Social Studies (6 standards):

Grade 9 โ€” World History: WH.6_12.1 through WH.6_12.6. One standard per broad historical era. WH Standards โ†’

Grade 10 โ€” US History: USH.1 through USH.6. One standard per unit. USH Standards โ†’

Tab 4 โ€” Crosswalk Map

A grid showing which ELA + SS standard pairings you've completed in crosswalk studios. When you finish a crosswalk studio, write the studio number in the cell where your two standards intersect.

Most cells in this grid will stay blank โ€” that's expected. Your goal is to spread your pairings across different rows and columns over the year, not repeat the same combination.

The One Rule

Fill in your Studio Log the day you get your score from Mr. Reese.

It takes two minutes. If you wait until later, you'll forget the details. An outdated tracker isn't useful to you or to Mr. Reese.

How Mr. Reese Uses This

During studio planning conversations โ€” especially at the start of each new studio โ€” Mr. Reese will look at your Standards Map with you. He'll use it to:

  • Identify which standards you haven't touched yet
  • Notice if you keep targeting the same standard repeatedly
  • Suggest which standard would fill your biggest gap next
  • Check whether you're on track for crosswalk requirements

The tracker isn't a grade โ€” it's a planning tool. The more accurate yours is, the better Mr. Reese can help you design your next studio.

Keeping Your Tracker in Google Drive

Your tracker lives in your personal SDA folder in The Commons Google Drive. The folder structure should look like this:

The Commons
  โ””โ”€โ”€ Grade 9 ELA / World History
โ””โ”€โ”€ [Your Last Name, First Name]
              โ”œโ”€โ”€ Studio Contracts
โ”œโ”€โ”€ Standards Tracker โ† this file
              โ””โ”€โ”€ [Studio folders]

If your folder isn't set up yet, ask Mr. Reese.
